Design Life Now: Ron Gilad

Ron Gilad's Dear Ingo design is a compilation of mass-produced desktop lamps-turned-chandelier. His design process revolves around deconstruction and reconstruction of found objects, which reminded me of the ready made aesthetic by Marcel Duchamp. The title Dear Ingo may perhaps be a tribute to fellow designer, Ingo Maurer who is known for his light installations and quirky lamps. I interpreted Dear Ingo as a humorous piece conveying the evolution of light fixtures through mass-produced objects, such as a common desktop lamp.

P.S It was a pleasant surprise to find two silkscreen prints on display by Eva Zeisel who is widely known for her ceramic design. The prints were located near the museum gift shop.
